When I moved to Germany in 2002 I started to gain a different perspective of myself. Additionally to learn the language, I had the opportunity to learn a new way of thinking, a new structure.
Unlike before, I did not have a job to help me define myself. I was studying German in the morning and visiting the art academy in the afternoon. I met people from different backgrounds and travelled frequently to London and Istanbul. I found myself in between worlds, my life changed dramatically in a short period of time.
How much of me had changed since I left Peru? How much of it remained hidden, clandestine, waiting to be released? How many personalities did I own that I had not experienced before?
Under the direction of Professor A.R. Penck in the Dusseldorf Art Academy, I created a series of linocuts called Clandestina. My intention was to experience myself from the other side, and through the process, be able to observe the observer.
